INTERAGENCY COORDINATION & PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Identifying, connecting and coordinating key stakeholders to ensure an inclusive process and outcome is at the center of each project we do. This is achieved through coordination and facilitation of meetings between public and private partners, technical teams and the client to develop concepts for desired neighborhood amenity improvements, with a focus on equity and urban sustainability.

Since 2013 USD has worked with King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) to implement the RainWise rebate program and improve participation among underserved residents.
In 2018, USD worked with King County Wastewater Treatment Division staff to write an Environmental Justice Action Plan for King County to ensure a proposed project reduces health impacts and provides benefits to adjacent communities, so that the project outreach is inclusive and equitable. The Equity and Social Justice Action Plan documents an inclusive, socially and environmentally just process to leverage capital improvements to include access to living wage jobs, open spaces, and environmental education.
USD has supported leaders of community-led green infrastructure projects to develop strong partnerships to implement GSI projects through grant funding.
